The part appears to be a very solid and durable alternative to buying the 300$ factory original one. The sensor went on smooth and has a good grip on the shifter link with no play. I particularly like that the range is very good on the sensor, meaning that you don't have to have the part perfectly aligned to start the car. Some of these sensors have little range and only start if the shifter is pushed forward while in park, but with this one that isn't the case. The harness has a nice looking sleeve that should protect it from the elements and engine heat, however the sleeving is a tad shorter than the original, leaving about 5 inches of the harness exposed, compared to the original which only had about 2 inches exposed, both on the connector end. The connector itself fits tightly into the receptor and stays put just fine despite the old receptor missing it's clips that would hold the connector in place. The locking nut and washer hold tight and firm. As for the price, I'd say this is a very fair price for a piece that looks like it'll hold up just about as well as the original. Now, I note on the old one. If your jeep powers on when you turn the key, but makes zero noise when you hold it in the start position, then your neutral safety switch has malfunctioned and is blocking it from starting. This is a very common problem on the cherokee and is usually due to the electrical contacts inside becoming gummed up and not springing into their slots anymore, which locks out the starter as if it were trying to be started in gear. You can usually take it apart and clean out the gunk blocking the contacts, which will make it start without problem, however, it will likely continue to throw a check engine light and it could even crap out unexpectedly if a contact gets stuck again. Not to be considered a permanent fix. You could also cut the wire in the harness next to the engine and jump it to another wire to bypass the neutral safety switch but I'd recommend against it unless it's an emergency!Mine is installed and starts every time with no problem and it has resolved the check engine light. The only concern I have is longevity, but only time will tell on that
